This is one of a number of tiles in the new bus station in the centre of Quarteira in the Algarve.

Things have moved on from the times depicted above, the modern bus is very comfortable and the times from Faro to here are quite swift with the A22 running across the bottom of the country and so you can get an express which only has a few stops, or a local bus which ambles though the “b” roads stopping at every village, but it is still a far cry from the boneshaker above.

However these modern  blue tiles carry on telling the story of Portugal for all to see just as effectively as the antique tiles, but perhaps with a little more simplicity of form.
